Privacy Policy
Last Updated: June 2026
Cedarly ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the Cedarly website and mobile application (together, the "Services").
1. Roles and Responsibilities
The personal information we handle falls into two categories:
- Information Cedarly collects for its own purposes — for example, when you create an account, use the app or website, or submit a form to us. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle that information.
- Information a church or ministry collects through Cedarly — for example, member or congregant data a ministry stores or manages using the Services. In those cases, the church or ministry is the controller of that data, and Cedarly acts as a processor (or service provider) on their behalf.
If your question is about data your church or ministry holds about you, please contact them first. Cedarly will assist them as needed. For data Cedarly collects itself, use the request form described in Contact Us below.
2. Information We Collect
User Information
We may collect information you provide when using Cedarly (for example account details, profile choices, content you create, and messages you send us), plus technical and usage data needed to run the Services.
Examples of What This May Include
- Account and profile details you choose to provide (such as email or preferences).
- Content you create in the Services (such as notes, habits, or next steps), which may be stored on your device and/or in our systems depending on the feature.
- Website and form submissions, including demo requests and privacy requests.
- Device and usage data, such as device type, app or browser version, screens or pages viewed, feature usage, and diagnostic or crash information.
- Notification preferences if you enable push notifications on the App.
Content and Linked Services
We display sermon and ministry content (such as titles, speakers, summaries, and video links). When you open third-party video or websites, those services are governed by their own privacy policies.
3. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Provide the Services — operate the website and app, display content, sync features where applicable, and respond to your requests.
- Improve Cedarly — understand usage, fix bugs, and improve performance and features.
- Communicate with you — send service-related messages and, if you enable them, push notifications.
- Support ministries — when we process data on behalf of a church or ministry, we use it only to provide the Services to them.
- Protect the Services — detect abuse, resolve technical issues, and comply with legal obligations.
4. Data Storage and Security
- Some information may be stored locally on your device (for example preferences or content designed for offline use). Cached content may refresh periodically.
- Account, profile, and other cloud-backed information is stored using industry-standard security practices, including encryption in transit and at rest where applicable.
- Access to personal information is limited to what is needed to operate and support the Services.
No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We work to protect your information, but we cannot guarantee absolute security.
5. Service Providers
We use trusted third-party service providers to help operate Cedarly. These may include providers for hosting and storage, analytics, email delivery, push notifications, and similar infrastructure. They are authorized to process personal information only as needed to provide services to us, and their practices are also governed by their own policies.
When you use linked third-party content (such as video platforms), those services collect and process information under their own terms and privacy policies.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information only in limited circumstances:
- Service providers who help us operate the Services, under appropriate confidentiality and data-protection obligations.
- Churches or ministries, when they are the controller of the data and we process it on their behalf.
- Legal requirements, if required by law, legal process, or a valid governmental request.
- Protection of rights, to protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property, or that of our users.
7. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on how you use Cedarly, you may:
- Access, correct, or request deletion of personal information Cedarly holds about you.
- Request a copy of information you have provided to us.
- Ask general privacy questions or raise concerns about our practices.
- Manage notifications through the App settings or your device settings.
- Clear certain locally stored data using in-app options where available.
To make a request about data Cedarly collects, visit our Data Request page. If your request relates to data held by your church or ministry, contact them first.
8. Data Retention
- Account and profile data: retained until you delete it or request deletion, unless we must keep it longer for legal reasons.
- Support and form emails: typically up to 24 months.
- Usage and analytics data: retained according to our service providers' standard periods, as needed to operate and improve the Services.
- Backups: residual copies may remain in backups for up to 90 days after deletion, then are removed in the ordinary backup cycle.
- We may retain information longer when required to comply with law, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.
9. Children's Privacy
The Services are not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us so we can delete it.
10. International Data Transfers
Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. Those countries may have different data protection laws. By using the Services, you understand that your information may be processed in these locations as needed to provide Cedarly.
11. Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will note material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of the Services after changes become effective constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
12. Contact Us
For questions or requests about this Privacy Policy or data Cedarly collects, please use our Data Request form. You may also email hello@cedarlyapp.com. We aim to respond within 10 days.
Note: This Privacy Policy covers the Cedarly website and mobile application. It does not cover the information practices of third-party websites, services, or applications you may access through Cedarly, including linked video platforms.
