Cedarly ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and protect information when you use the Cedarly mobile application (the "App").

  • Profile Information: If you choose to provide it, we collect your country and home church selection. This information is stored in our secure database and is optional.
  • Action Items: You create and manage action items within the App, which are stored locally on your device.

Automatically Collected Information

  • Device Information: We collect anonymous device information including operating system, device model, and app version for analytics purposes.
  • Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the App, including:
    • Sermon views and searches
    • Action item creation and completion
    • Screen navigation and feature usage
    • Error and crash information (to improve app stability)

Information from Third-Party Services

  • Sermon Content: We display sermon content (titles, speakers, summaries, action items, thumbnails, and YouTube links) that is managed and stored by our content management system.
  • Analytics: We use analytics services to understand how the App is used and to improve our services. This includes tracking app events, screen views, and device characteristics. Session replay features are disabled to protect your privacy.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide the Service: Display sermons, allow you to create and track action items, and deliver push notifications.
  • Improve the App: Analyze usage patterns to enhance features, fix bugs, and optimize performance.
  • Send Notifications: Deliver daily reminders and notifications about your action items (only if you have enabled notifications).
  • Error Monitoring: Track and resolve technical issues to ensure app stability and reliability.

3. Data Storage and Security

Local Storage

  • Action Items and Progress: All your action items, completion dates, and progress data are stored locally on your device. This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to our servers unless you explicitly use features that require synchronization.
  • Cached Content: Sermon content is cached locally on your device for 24 hours to enable offline functionality.

Cloud Storage

  • Profile Data: Your country and home church selection (if provided) are stored securely using industry-standard encryption and security practices.
  • Sermon Content: Sermon data is stored in our cloud database and is publicly readable for app functionality. Only authorized administrators can modify sermon content.

Security Measures

  • We use encryption for data in transit and at rest where applicable.
  • Access to your data is restricted to necessary operations only.
  • We implement security best practices including access control policies on our database.
  • Analytics data is transmitted securely using encrypted connections.

4. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services that may collect information:

  • Database and Storage Services: We use third-party database and storage services for sermon content and user profile data. These services' privacy practices are governed by their respective privacy policies.
  • Analytics Services: We use analytics services to help us understand app usage. These services' privacy practices are governed by their respective privacy policies. We have disabled session replay features to protect your privacy.
  • YouTube: When you click on sermon YouTube links, you will be redirected to YouTube's website or app, which is subject to YouTube's privacy policy and terms of service.

5. Push Notifications

If you enable push notifications, we will:

  • Send you daily reminders at your selected time if you have incomplete action items.
  • Send notifications when you add new action items.
  • Store your notification preferences locally on your device.

You can disable notifications at any time through the Settings tab in the App. Notification permissions are managed through your device's operating system.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We may share information only in the following circumstances:

  • Service Providers: With third-party service providers who assist us in operating the App, subject to confidentiality agreements.
  • Legal Requirements: If required by law, legal process, or governmental request.
  • Protection of Rights: To protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property, or that of our users.

7. Anonymous Usage

The App is designed to work without requiring user accounts or login. We generate anonymous identifiers for analytics purposes, but these do not personally identify you. You are not required to provide any personal information to use the App's core features.

8. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Clear Your Data: Use the "Clear All Data" option in Settings to delete all locally stored action items and progress data from your device.
  • Disable Notifications: Turn off push notifications at any time through your device settings or the App's Settings tab.
  • Delete Profile Data: You can remove your country and home church selection, though you may need to contact us for complete removal from our database.
  • Opt-Out of Analytics: You may disable analytics tracking, though this may impact our ability to improve the App (contact us for details).

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

10. Data Retention

  • Local Data: Action items and progress data stored locally remain on your device until you delete the App or use the "Clear All Data" feature.
  • Cloud Data: Profile information (country, home church) is retained until you delete it or request removal.
  • Analytics Data: Analytics data is retained by our third-party providers according to their respective retention policies (typically 1-2 years).
  • Cached Content: Sermon content cached locally expires after 24 hours and is automatically refreshed when you use the App.

11. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country. By using the App, you consent to the transfer of your information to these countries.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
