Privacy Policy

1. What a church can see

Your church can see totals, such as which sermons people open, save, share, or turn into next steps. Those totals are not a list of who did what. Your church can also see a question you choose to send, so the church can answer it.

Your church cannot see your notes, your personal next steps, or your habit progress.

Cedarly does not hold your church's membership roll, giving records, or pastoral care files.

Cedarly handles your account, notes, next steps, questions, and app usage under this policy. A church controls the sermon summaries and other content it publishes. Cedarly hosts and displays that content. To change or delete a question you sent your church, contact the church. For your account, your notes, or a deletion request, use the Data Request form.

2. Information we collect

• Email and profile choices you enter, such as country or home church.
• Notes, next steps, and habits you create.
• Questions you send a church.
• Demo requests and privacy requests you submit on the website.
• Device type, app or browser version, pages or screens viewed, feature use, and crash data.
• Push notification settings, if you turn notifications on.

When you open a sermon on YouTube, YouTube's privacy policy applies.

3. How we use it

We use the information we collect to:

• Run the website and app, show sermons, and respond to requests.
• Fix bugs and see which features people use.
• Send service messages, and push notifications if you turn them on.
• Show a church its own sermon content, the totals in section 1, and questions a person sent that church.
• Detect abuse and meet legal duties.

4. Artificial intelligence

Cedarly uses AI to turn a church's sermon audio and video into summaries, quizzes, and listen audio that the church publishes.

We do not use your notes, your next steps, your questions, or a church's sermon audio or video for advertising.

We do not use them to train AI models. When a provider such as OpenAI or Anthropic processes content for a summary, quiz, or listen audio, we do not allow that provider to use it to train its models.

5. Service providers

We use service providers to host and store data, measure how the website and app are used, deliver email and push notifications, and process payments a ministry makes to Cedarly. They process information only as needed to provide that service. Analytics does not include the text of notes or next steps.

When you open a sermon on YouTube, YouTube collects and processes information under its own privacy policy.

6. Sharing

We do not sell personal information. We share information only in these cases:

• Service providers who help us run Cedarly, under confidentiality and data-protection terms.
• Your church, only for the totals and the questions described in section 1. Notes, next steps, and habit progress stay with you.
• Legal requirements, including a court order or a valid government request.
• Protection of rights, to protect Cedarly's rights, safety, or property, or the rights, safety, or property of the people who use Cedarly.

7. Storage and security

• Some information stays on your device, such as preferences and content saved for offline use.
• Account and other cloud information is encrypted in transit and at rest.
• Access to personal information is limited to what is needed to run and support Cedarly.

No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. We work to protect your information, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Cookies

The website uses cookies to keep you signed in, to remember a visitor on embedded sermon tools, and to measure site use. You can block cookies in your browser. If you block sign-in cookies, parts of the site that require an account will not work.

9. How long we keep it

• Account and profile data: until you delete it or request deletion, unless we must keep it longer for a legal reason.
• Support and form emails: up to 24 months.
• Usage and analytics data: for as long as the analytics provider keeps it to operate the Services.
• Backups: residual copies can remain for up to 90 days after deletion, then are removed in the ordinary backup cycle.
• We keep information longer when the law requires it, a dispute requires it, or we are enforcing an agreement.

10. Children

Cedarly is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

A church that invites youth to use Cedarly is responsible for parental consent.

11. International transfers

Your information can be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence, including where our service providers operate. Those countries have their own data protection laws. We transfer information as needed to provide Cedarly.

12. Your choices

• Access, correct, or request deletion of personal information we hold about you.
• Request a copy of information you have provided to us.
• Ask a privacy question.
• Turn notifications off in the app or in your device settings.
• Clear locally stored data in the app where that option is available.

To make a request about data Cedarly collects, use the Data Request form. To change or delete a question you sent your church, contact the church.

13. Changes

We update this policy from time to time. We post changes on this page and update the date at the top.
