FIGHT FOR YOUR GARMENT - DR. AROME OSAYI

Have you ever felt the weight of your own limits, like life is asking more of you than your strength can give? Tonight’s word invites you to pause and remember that God never meant for you to live exposed, vulnerable, and stranded in your humanity. Paul calls our bodies an “earthly house,” a temporary tabernacle. And yet he speaks with quiet confidence, if this outward tent is dissolved, “we have a building of God… eternal in the heavens.” That means...Have you ever felt the weight of your own limits, like life is asking more of you than your strength can give? Tonight’s word invites you to pause and remember that God never meant for you to live exposed, vulnerable, and stranded in your humanity. Paul calls our bodies an “earthly house,” a temporary tabernacle. And yet he speaks with quiet confidence, if this outward tent is dissolved, “we have a building of God… eternal in the heavens.” That means your future is not fragile. But there’s more, the message also carries hope for now. In this tabernacle “we groan,” not because we want to escape life, but because we long to be “clothed upon” with what is from heaven, until “mortality might be swallowed up in life.” God is able to let the life He placed within you overflow into your everyday world. The sermon paints “nakedness” as more than shame, it is a fearful vulnerability. Adam said, “I was afraid because I was naked” (Genesis 3:10). Something of glory had been lost, and suddenly he felt exposed. God’s heart is not to leave you that way. He wants you clothed, covered, strengthened by His Spirit, so the enemy cannot easily touch what God is guarding. “For we know that if our earthly house… were dissolved… [we have] a house not made with hands” (2 Corinthians 5:1). “Not… unclothed, but clothed upon, that mortality might be swallowed up of life” (2 Corinthians 5:4). “Glorify thou me… with the glory which I had with thee before the world was” (John 17:5). Jesus shows us what this clothing points to. On the mount of transfiguration, what was within Him began to shine without, a glimpse of the glory He prayed for. He is the One the Father approved, “Hear ye him.” In Christ, God is not only promising heaven later, He is teaching us to live from heaven’s life now, by the Holy Spirit. Reflect on this truth, God can clothe you for the day you are in. Your words, your mind, your health, your courage, even your sensitivity to God can be touched by His life. The call is simple, keep groaning, keep longing, keep reaching for the covering God gives, and refuse the traps that would strip you. Take a few quiet minutes today and pray, “Lord, I do not want to be found naked. Clothe me.” Then sit still long enough to listen. God knows how to cover His children, and He knows how to keep you safe in His presence.Read more
